The Biden administration’s efforts to impose a 100-day pause on deportations of illegal immigrants were dealt another blow on Tuesday when a district judge extended a ban on its imposition in response to a lawsuit from Texas.
U.S. District Judge Drew Tipton indefinitely banned enforcement of the Jan. 20 memorandum that would have implemented a 100-day moratorium on most deportations.
The article goes on to state the following:
Tipton had previously issued a two-week restraining order on the policy after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had argued that it violated federal law and an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that Texas be consulted before such a move.
Biden’s pause on deportations would reportedly have excluded those illegal aliens who “engaged in terrorism or espionage or who pose a danger to national security.”
Texas fought back, referring to a contract reached with DHS in the final days of the Trump administration, which requires DHS to give Texas 180 days’ notice of any proposed changes with regards to immigration enforcement or pausing deportations.
However, after the judge put the earlier ban on Biden’s efforts to halt deportations, the Biden administration has simply come up with another plan to accomplish their objective, by issuing new guidelines for the next 90 days on who can be deported, and requiring ICE agents to get approval from their superiors before they arrest any illegal alien unless they fall into specific categories.
Jessica Vaughan, Director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies released a disturbing analysis last week on ICE records showing the massive extent of illegal alien criminals arrested annually. The report also notes that ICE personnel are sounding the alarm that Biden’s order basically shuts down all immigration enforcement within the country.
The study also revealed: “In 2018, ICE removed 95,360 aliens from the interior. If the new Biden deportation policies had been in force and applied to ICE’s 2018 interior caseload, only about 3,367, or 3.5%, would have been considered appropriate to be removed.”
Federal judge Drew Tipton, who indefinitely banned the enforcement of the Biden Administration 100-day deportation moratorium late Tuesday, was nominated by President Trump to be US District Court judge for Southern Texas and confirmed by Senate last year on a party line vote. https://t.co/LvvykutYGl
