The militant who was behind the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, in which four Americans were brutally killed, has been captured and is now on his way to the United States to face charges.

U.S. special forces reportedly nabbed the man Sunday night, just prior to midnight, in Libya. ABC News reported that he is in custody of the Department of Justice, will be arriving in the U.S. on a military plane within the next two days.

President Trump reported approved the mission in which the suspect was captured, and Libyan officials helped to coordinate the capture. The man has been identified as Mustafa al-Imam.

U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, State Department information management officer Sean Patrick Smith and contract security officers Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were all killed in the attack.

The Obama administration and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton originally tried to convince the public that the attack was simply a protest caused by an anti-Muslim video on YouTube, but later had to admit it was a planned terrorist attack.

Politico noted that, “A two-year investigation by a House Benghazi committee focused heavily on Clinton’s role and whether security at the compounds and the response to the attack was sufficient. It was the Benghazi probe that revealed Clinton used a private email server for government work, prompting an FBI investigation that proved to be an albatross in her presidential campaign.”

During the hearing, Clinton became known for her infamous quote, when she declared during questioning, “Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night and decided they’d go kill some Americans. What difference – at this point, what difference does it make?”

In November 2012, just two months after the Benghazi attack, and long before he ever became a political candidate, Donald Trump sent out a Twitter post, slamming Obama over Benghazi.

“Benghazi is bigger than Watergate. Don’t let Obama get away with allowing Americans to die. Kick him out of office tomorrow,” Trump tweeted.
