NEW YORK — One person is in custody after a truck drove several blocks into a bike lane and hit multiple victims in downtown Manhattan Tuesday afternoon.
Multiple people were reportedly hit by the Home Depot rental truck careening a wide bike lane, with several reported dead.
Reports came in of shots fired, both by one of the drivers and the police, and authorities have confirmed that police shot at the suspect. The suspect is in custody, and police have said there is no further danger to the public.
Multiple witnesses have reported seeing many people dead.
A fight reportedly broke out between two truck drivers, resulting in one truck hitting multiple people on the bike path.
Fox News reported that up to six people were shot by a driver who came out of a vehicle with two guns and started shooting.
This is a developing story, with much confusion about exactly what occurred. Police are reportedly inspecting the rental truck and have mentioned a suspicious package in the vehicle. The FBI is now reportedly involved, as well.

I’m shaking. That’s the corner I was supposed to have my coffee but my dog pulled me into the park half a block away 10 min before shooting. https://t.co/AvQeRv7Jha

I hope everyone’s ok. Was half a block from me, didn’t see it but heard 8-10 quick rounds fired off. Be safe with your kids out there.
