Monday night, a sharply-divided Senate confirmed another new Trump cabinet member in a 53-47 vote.
Steven Mnuchin was confirmed as the new Treasury Department Secretary, with all Republicans voting for him, and all Democrats opposing him, except for one – Joe Manchin of West Virginia.
The vote followed a week of debates and questioning, as Democrats argued that Mnuchin is a “Wall Street-friendly banker” who would not stand up for American workers. Republicans defended him for his experience with the economy.
Also Monday night, David Shulkin was confirmed as the Veterans Affairs Secretary, receiving approval from all 100 senators.
The swearing-in ceremony for Mnuchin is expected to take place any time Monday evening, and can be viewed below.
