South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has been confirmed to serve as ambassador to the United Nations in a landslide vote Tuesday afternoon.
The Senate approved Haley in a final vote of 96-4.
Just hours earlier, Haley also breezed right through the Foreign Relations Committee hearing. Out of the 21 senators on the committee panel for Haley’s confirmation hearing, only two voted against her Tuesday – Chris Coons (D-DE) and Tom Udal (D-NM).
The Hill reported that Haley’s hearing was overall “friendly,” where the Democrats were more focused on Trump instead of criticizing Haley.
Haley expressed the same concerns as Trump regarding the excessive dues America spends on the United Nations, and questioned if the recent vote to condemn Israel really reflected American values.
One reason many Democrats on the committed ending up supporting Haley was due to her opposition to Trump’s stance on America’s relationship with Russia.
