O.J. Simpson has been granted parole Thursday after nine years in Nevada jail for robbing sports memorabilia from a casino in Las Vegas.
Four Nevada commissioners made the decision following Simpson’s parole board hearing, wherein the 70-year-old gave a rambling account of the remorse he feels for the incident, saying he didn’t mean to steal and wishes “this would have never happened.”
Simpson was confrontational with the board at times but claimed jail has humbled him. He maintained the items stolen belonged to him, but showed a measure of remorse, adding, “I take full responsibility.”
In 2007, Simpson led a group of men to steal sports memorabilia from a hotel and casino in Las Vegas at gunpoint. According to sources, Simpson may develop a reality television series about his life once his freedom is in full swing.
