Police are currently trying to talk to an armed man at the Orlando International Airport, after receiving a call about 7:24 pm Tuesday evening.

The man is reportedly on the first floor of the airport, in the rental car area.  He is armed, but has not fired any shots, and has not yet harmed himself or anyone else, although he has threatened to do so.

Law enforcement officers have cleared the area and are trying to to talk the man into giving up his weapon.

Traffic around the airport is in a gridlock because of the incident, News 13 is reporting.

This is a developing story.

UPDATE 11:00 p.m. ET:  The Orlando Police have posted an update that the gunman has surrendered his weapon and is now in custody.  He was reportedly in mental distress and screaming at officers to shoot him.

The suspect was identified as Michael Wayne Pettigrew, 26, who served in the Marines from 2009 to 2012.

No shots were ever fired, and no injuries were reported.
