BREAKING: Possible terror attack in Finland

BREAKING NEWS — The BBC, CNN and local media in Finland are reporting that Finnish police have shot a man who reportedly stabbed several people in the city of Turku. The center of the Finnish city is on lockdown as there are developing reports of multiple attackers with knives.

It is currently unclear if the crime was carried out by just one person with a knife or multiple attackers.

One person is said to have been shot by police, as some bystanders said they heard gunshots while others reported stabbings in the Market Square.

According to local reports, at least one person is lying on the ground and not moving, and multiple people also appear to be injured. There are no confirmed deaths at this time.

A number of people were seen running with knives in the city center of Turku, on the southwest coast of Finland.

Speculation is the attack may be terror related.

The attack follows Thursday’s terror attack in Spain. That attack, carried out in a vehicle, left at least 14 people dead and more than 100 injured. The victims of the Islamic terror attack in Spain spanned from 24 different countries. The attack on Thursday was the deadliest in Spain since the 2004 Madrid train bombings that killed 192 people.
