BREAKING: Suspect in custody after shots fired outside U.S. Capitol

Capitol Police have taken a suspect into custody after being led on a chase near Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.

Fox News reports the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. when they began chasing a vehicle near the Library of Congress.

The report indicates the chase ended about a half-mile away after the vehicle was stopped by a road barricade. It is being reported police also fired shots at the vehicle.

Several police vehicles were hit by the suspect’s car during the chase, in addition to several other vehicles.

Police have not yet made a statement, and it is unclear why the initial chase began.
