In a statement announced by Trump’s transition team on Thursday, he has named RNC strategist Sean Spicer as his press secretary.
Additionally, Hope Hicks was named Director of Strategic Communications, Jason Miller was named Director of Communications, and Dan Scavino was named Director of Social Media, reports The Hill.
All four of these new members of the press also have the “assistant to the President” title, which indicates they are all on ‘equal footing’.
Hicks and Scavino have been known to be loyal to Trump throughout his campaign. Hicks joined the Trump Organization as director of communications in October of 2014 and Scavino acted as his director of social media.
Miller previously worked with Sen. Ted Cruz‘s presidential campaign and joined Trump’s campaign after the primaries.
Sean Spicer, RNC communications director and strategist, took on a “direct role in the campaign’s communications in August,” says The Hill.
Miller and Spicer have led the daily transition media calls since Trump’s election.
Spicer’s appointment to Trump’s administration comes as no surprise.
The Hills states:
“He’s well known both with the press and on Capitol Hill, unafraid to play the role of the attack dog for the party and its nominee throughout the election.”
“Sean, Hope, Jason and Dan have been key members of my team during the campaign and transition. I am excited they will be leading the team that will communicate my agenda that will Make America Great Again.”
