In response to Tuesday’s chemical weapons attack that killed over 80 civilians in Syria, an atrocity believed to have been committed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad against his own people, the United States has launched an attack against Syria Thursday evening, at 8:45 pm ET.

Reportedly, dozens of Tomahawk cruise missiles have been launched by the U.S. at a Syrian airfield, in an attempt to destroy the military infrastructure. Fox News has reported that the airbase in Shayrat was one primary target.

Two U.S. warships, the USS Porter and the USS Ross, have reportedly been training for the past two days to carry out this mission, and were to fire off approximately 50 missiles.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson warned Thursday afternoon in a news conference that plans were underway to respond to the attack.

This is a developing story.
