Moments after CBS Sports announced that former San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick was willing to stand for the national anthem if given another chance to play in the NFL, Vice President Mike Pence walked out of the Indianapolis Colts game because players on the 49ers took a knee during the anthem.

The vice president immediately tweeted out an alert stating why he exited the stadium with his wife.

Pence tweeted this statement:  “I left today’s Colts game because President Trump and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem. At a time when so many Americans are inspiring our nation with their courage, resolve, and resilience, now, more than ever, we should rally around our Flag and everything that unites us. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I don’t think it’s too much to ask NFL players to respect the Flag and our National Anthem. I stand with President Trump, I stand with our soldiers, and I will always stand for our Flag and our National Anthem.”

The NFL has been taking a beating this season as fans reject the league and its players for disrespecting the American flag and national anthem. TV ratings are way down, and a recent poll shows that football is no longer the most popular sport in America. A whopping 31% of its fan base says it has turned away from the NFL, with many saying they will never return.

“This is why we started the bumper sticker campaign. In one week we sold over 17,000 bumper stickers that read I STAND FOR MY FLAG,” said Dennis Michael Lynch, CEO of DML News. “We’ll end up selling even more now that the NFL is continuing with this nonsense. Reason being is there should be zero tolerance for this sort of behavior. I reject the NFL, and I stand with VP Pence in rejecting the knee takers. I’m sort of shocked Pence was there in the first place, but I’ll give him a pass this time. I’ll be sending him a bumper sticker in the mail.”
