Former Democratic congressman Anthony Weiner is expected to plead guilty before a federal courtroom on Friday regarding sexting allegations that prompted an FBI investigation.
Weiner will appear before a judge in Manhattan to plead guilty for transferring obscene material to a female 15-year-old minor from North Carolina, according to the New York Times. Weiner could potentially face ten years in prison and be registered as a sex offender.
The F.B.I. obtained Weiner’s electronic devices in late October, which included a laptop computer containing emails to his estranged wife and Hillary Clinton aide, Huma Abedin. Despite no formal charges being made, Clinton cites this untimely investigation as the primary reason for her loss in the 2016 presidential election.
