Bride and groom make history with wedding location

A British couple made history by having the first official wedding ceremony in the British Antarctic Territory (BAT). It is the first marriage since the BAT marriage law was reformed to make it easier for marriages to be arranged in the territory.

Tom Sylvester and Julie Baum are both experienced mountaineers, instructors and expedition leaders. They have been together for 11 years.

Twenty guests attended their wedding, and as seen below, they all bravely stood for a group photo in 15℉ weather. Ms Baum’s orange dress is impossible to miss.  The dress was made from an old tent.

Tom said the setting “couldn’t be better,” and he added, “we have always wanted to have a small personal wedding, but never imagined we’d be able to get married in one of the most remote places on earth.”
