In his ever-present hatred of President Donald Trump, Democrat-backer Bruce Springsteen released a new protest anthem called, “That’s What Makes Us Great.”
Springsteen collaborator Joe Grushecky told reporters that he wrote the song after Trump took office in January.
“I had this song, and Bruce and I had been talking,” he recalled. “I sent it to him and he liked it. I said, ‘What do you think about singing on it?’ He gave it the Bruce treatment.”
Springsteen references Trump’s distaste for reading in the song’s lyrics, singing, “And don’t you brag to me/That you never read a book/I never put my faith/In a con man and his crooks.”
Then both artists sing, “It’s up to me and you/Love can conquer hate/I know this to be true/That’s what makes us great.”
There is no music video released as of now, but it’s in the works.
