California’s Newest Anti-Trump Weapon is Eric Holder

The California Legislature has decided to hire former attorney general for President Obama, Eric H. Holder, Jr., to assist in any imminent legal battles with the new Trump administration.

Eric Holder, presently a Washington D.C. lawyer, appears to be in preparation for what promises to be a four-year-long constant battle between the ultra-liberal, Democrat-leaning state of California and the Trump agenda.

Kevin de Leon, California Democratic leader in the Senate said, “Having the former attorney general of the United States brings us a lot of firepower in order to prepare to safeguard the values of the people of California. This means we are very, very serious.”

Mr. de León said he expected California to challenge Washington and hired Holder to defend them against the new administration’s policies regarding the environment, immigration, and criminal justice upon seeing whom Trump has designated for his cabinet posts.

Continued de Leon, “It was very clear that it wasn’t just campaign rhetoric. He was surrounding himself with people who are a very clear and present danger to the economic prosperity of California.”

Eric Holder served as President Obama’s attorney general from 2009 to 2015, becoming the first African-American to hold that position.

Holder is presently a partner at Covington & Burling, a law firm in Washington, D.C. that specializes in representing states and companies against the federal government.

Holder issued a statement that said, “I am honored that the Legislature chose Covington to serve as its legal adviser as it considers how to respond to potential changes in federal law that could impact California’s residents and policy priorities. I am confident that our expertise across a wide array of federal legal and regulatory issues will be a great resource to the Legislature.”
