Since President Donald Trump took office, illegal aliens are no longer staying in the United States – they are flooding across the border into Canada, fearful of deportation under Trump’s new crackdown on illegal immigration.
In April, Canadian authorities reported that the number of asylum seekers crossing into Canada had tripled since January, bringing the total to 1,860 that far in 2017.
A new report reveals that the number of people who walked across the Canadian border from the United States has increased once again, as 884 refugee claimants were nabbed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in June.
A massive 88 percent of the asylum seekers crossed into the Quebec province, where only around 100 per month previously crossed.
The updated total for 2017 is now 4,345.
Reuters reported that the skyrocketing number of asylum seekers traveling into Canada this year is on track to be the highest since at least 2011.
The massive influx of refugees has created havoc for Canada’s immigration system, as refugee claims are taking longer than ever before to be processed. Until they are granted a hearing on their asylum claim, refugees in Canada are unable to convince employers to hire them or landlords to rent to them, nor are they able to qualify for student financial aid or update their professional credentials in the country.
According to Canada’s official immigration page on their website, its stringent immigration policies include being able to “immigrate as a skilled worker,” “immigrate by starting a business and creating jobs” or “immigrate by investing in the Canadian economy.”
