Visa requirements were lifted by Canadian liberals on December 1, allowing Mexican “tourists” to enter Canada at will.
Conservative Canadian media outlet, The Rebel, reported that the government was seemingly oblivious to the Mexican cartels’ plans to traffic drugs.
An estimated 250 Mexicans, claiming refugee status, were applying for visa’s each month costing taxpayers millions. The once conservative government had implemented restrictions on those trying to take advantage of the system, which have now been lifted by the liberals.
It is said that the price of lifting those restrictions will cost an estimated $433 million over the next ten years, with only an expected $176 million being brought in from tourism and trade investments, burdening Canadian taxpayers with about $262 million.
Conservative MP Michelle Rempel reportedly detailed the additional security risks involved with lifting visa requirements last month, calling it “short sited.” These concerns were ignored by the Immigration Minister John McCallum, who only refereed to the immigrants as “tourists,” who would be crossing the border.
In 2014, the Vancouver Sun reported that Mexican cartel representatives had already begun brokering deals with local gang members to bring drugs into the county.
