Chelsea Clinton tweets about moms in prison – see how people reacted…

A program dubbed “Girl Scouts Beyond Bars” was championed by Chelsea Clinton, who tweeted a link to a story about the program, which helps children visit their imprisoned mothers. Her tweet drew a flurry of sarcastic responses.

Chelsea Clinton, daughter of failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, tweeted a link to a Time Magazine story that profiles Girl Scout troop 1500, based in Austin, Texas. Once a month, the troop takes a field trip of sorts, to a prison. Far from a learning expedition, these monthly treks help the children spend quality time with their mothers, who are incarcerated at the facility.

On the third Saturday of every month, the young girls and their mothers meet in a room that has a classroom setting, designed to look a little less like a room in a prison. According to Time, more than 150 young Texas girls have benefited from the program. While they are under 18, the girls can participate in the visits and take advantage of counseling in a program that started in Maryland in 1992.

After tweeting about the beneficial program, Clinton may have been surprised by the response. Instead of a wave of praise for the visits, or for Clinton’s clever observance of the program, she was met with mocking tweets aimed at her mother.

In her tweet, Chelsea Clinton wrote: “Inside a Girl Scout Program That Brings Kids to Prison to See Their Moms.”

Immediately, the responses focused on the idea the Hillary Clinton is a criminal who many feel should be put behind bars. Reasons vary, but most include the allegation that she was involved in “pay for play” schemes while secretary of state under former President Obama, that she used a private email server to exchange highly classified information over an unsecure network during the same administration, and general corruption in regarding activities surrounding the Clinton Foundation.

And of course, there were taunting tweets and accusals regarding Clinton’s massive mishandling and downright disastrous behavior regarding the 2012 Benghazi terror attack.

Drawing parallels between the Girl Scout visits and Chelsea Clinton’s own potential visits with an incarcerated mother, Twitter responded:
