Pop icon Cher left very little to viewers’ imaginations during her revealing Billboard Music Awards performance on Sunday evening.

Cher celebrated her 71st birthday at the ceremony wearing a barely-there outfit while belting out her smash hit “Believe.”

The Grammy- and Oscar-winning star sashayed across the stage and sparkled in a jaw-dropping nude bikini with diamond encrusted straps and heart-shaped nipple pasties covering her chest.

She then followed the act with her 1989 smash “If I Could Turn Back Time” for which she wore a strappy black catsuit, similar to the one in her music video, complete with a massive black wig and thigh-high leather boots, before accepting the Billboard Music Icon Award for her five decades in show business.

Cher began her acceptance speech, saying: “So, I wanted to do what I do since I was 4 years old, and I’ve been doing it for 53 years. That is not an applause thing, I’m 71 yesterday! And I can do a five-minute plank, okay? Just saying.”

She also paid tribute to her mother and Sonny Bono, who helped launch her career.

“I want to thank my mom because when I was really young, my mom said, ‘You’re not going to be the smartest. You’re not going to be the prettiest. You’re not going to be the most talented. But you’re going to be special,”‘ she said. “And when I met Sonny, he said the same thing. And there was really nothing about me that led anyone to believe that I was going to be special.”

Cher’s outfit selection certainly attracted plenty of entertaining commentary on social media.

Meanwhile, Celine Dion gave a more tamed yet powerful performance at the same show.
