China announced they will be “launching” a China Global Television Network to “re-brand” themselves.
According to an announcement on Friday night, China Central Television (CCTV), Beijing’s largest TV network, will implement a new global media platform on New Year’s Day in an attempt to “re-brand” themselves with people overseas.
The new network will be multi-lingual and feature six TV channels, along with a global new media agency.
China has begun a number of “soft power” initiatives to expand its influence abroad, which will also include many English-language media outlets.
