CLAIM: Deputy A.G. Rosenstein threatened to quit after Comey firing

The mainstream media is reporting that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein threatened to quit his job at the DOJ after the White House set the narrative that his suggestion to fire Comey was the sole reason why he was terminated from his position at the FBI.

The reports come despite the clarity within Rosenstein’s memo which clearly cites his recommendations to President Trump.  As pointed out in his memo, Rosenstein felt Comey’s handling of the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server was a strong reason for Comey’s removal.    He did not believe Comey could effectively lead the FBI.

The Washington Post and ABC News, are just two outlets pushing the narrative that the White House and Trump have been provided varying and conflicting stories surrounding Comey’s firing.  For example, apparently there is a huge difference between Trump saying earlier this week that Comey was not doing a good job, and White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders saying Comey had committed “atrocities” while leading the bureau.
