President Trump’s national security advisor, Michael Flynn, is reportedly in hot water because of interaction with Russian officials prior to Trump’s inauguration.
According to Reuters, an investigation commenced over the weekend into a possible conversation Flynn had with Russia regarding lifting Obama’s previously imposed sanctions.
This may have been in violation of a law exempting private citizens from engaging in unregulated foreign policy.
The retired general has continually been defended by Trump administration officials since the finger-pointing began weeks before Jan. 20.

Vice President Mike Pence has televised his defense for Flynn, acknowledging the former general is an advocate of improved U.S.-Russia relations but denying Flynn ever breached law in contacting the foreign nation. However, a recent Washington Post report confirms that Flynn, indeed, likely discussed the topic of sanctions.
Reportedly, Flynn does not recall “with 100 percent certainty” that he talked about the sanctions in his December phone call, according to an anonymous administration official.
As a result of this enlightening report, Flynn apologized to Pence, who was accordingly unnerved by Flynn’s misleading of Trump’s cabinet and other administration officials with the false narrative.
Presently, President Trump has not yet commented directly on the issue.
