Pop singing sensation Justin Bieber has canceled the remainder of his “Purpose” world tour this week, which led to speculation the 23-year-old may be starting his own church.
On Australia’s “Today Extra,” reporter Richard Wilkins said Bieber has experienced a spiritual reawakening of his Christian faith.
“I am led to believe that the real reason he’s come off the road is because he wants to reconnect with his faith, and may be even planning to start his own church,” Wilkins said Monday. “Whether he’s looking at teaming up with [Hillsong] … or starting his own church, we’re not quite sure. … That’s the word from an inside source.”
Hillsong is a network of churches with which Bieber has been known to be associated. The organization further prompted speculation Bieber canceled his tour for this cause after it apologized, saying the singer had “rededicated his life to Christ.”

Bieber has a reportedly “intense” relationship with Hillsong’s New York pastor Carl Lentz, but other sources have said the decision to cancel the tour came from within.
“The church didn’t tell Justin to cancel the tour. He made his decision based on spiritual soul-searching and his own view of the path in life he should be taking,” said the source.
Bieber outrightly denied claims he canceled the tour because of his faith, offering only that it was “due to unforeseen circumstances” and that he plans to “get some relaxation.”
Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, gave fans an earnest apology via Instagram.
“To those that won’t be able to see him, on behalf of myself, Justin, and the team, we are sorry,” Braun wrote. “That was never our intent. But a man’s soul and well being I truly care about came first and we must all respect and honor that.”
When approached by TMZ, the pop star said he is tired from 2 years on the road.
