Following Jill Stein’s fundraising efforts and push for recounts in the rust belt states, Hillary Clinton is now recruiting volunteers to help with general election recounts in Michigan and Wisconsin.
A new page on HillaryClinton.com features a sign-up form that says “Help with the Michigan recount. Let us know if you want to get involved.” The page offers no additional details, other than: “Someone from the team will be in touch.”
A lawyer for Clinton’s campaign said Saturday the campaign would participate in the recount “to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides.” They then sent an email to supporters on Monday seeking volunteers for the recount efforts:
“In the weeks since the heartbreak of Election Day, our campaign has taken a number of steps to verify the accuracy of the vote tally in a few critical battleground states — and to this point, we’ve found no evidence that would change the outcome,” read an email from Clinton’s Wisconsin state director Jake Hajdu. “But as you might have heard, now that others have asked for a recount of the vote here in Wisconsin, we will participate to make sure everyone who voted for Hillary in this state has their interests represented.”
Elections officials estimate the recount in Wisconsin will cost approximately $3.5 million.
