Clinton slams Biden’s campaign comments in new book

In her new book, Hillary Clinton openly questions former Vice President’s Joe Biden‘s assessment that the Democrats did not focus on the middle class during the campaign.

Joe Biden said the Democratic Party in 2016 ‘did not talk about what it always stood for — and that was how to maintain a burgeoning middle class,'” Clinton wrote in “What Happened,” according to a report from CNN.

“I find this fairly remarkable, considering that Joe himself campaigned for me all over the Midwest and talked plenty about the middle class,” she stated, referring to comments made by Biden in which he criticized Democrats’ strategy to win over working-class voters.

“Because of the negative campaign that [President Donald] Trump ran, how much did we hear about that guy making 50,000 bucks on an assembly line, [and] the woman — his wife — making $28,000 as a hostess?” Biden asked in May. “They have $78,000, two kids, [are] living in a metropolitan area, and they can hardly make it. When was the last time you heard us talk about those people?”

Biden is not the only character in Clinton’s book to take some of the blame for her devastating loss.

Clinton lays plenty of blame at the feet of former FBI director James Comey and Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that Comey’s revival of the email issue in the last week of the campaign was the beginning of the end for her.

“Comey’s letter turned that picture upside down,” Clinton writes about her tarnished image, believing that she had gone from being viewed as a steady leader (even while we all watched her fall into a van on 9/11) to a candidate now compromised by scandal.

And when it comes to Russia’s meddling in the election, Clinton openly wonders if a more forceful public response from then-President Barack Obama could have changed matters. She also mentions her regret at not being able to face Putin as a US president.

“There’s nothing I was looking forward to more than showing Putin that his efforts to influence our election and install a friendly puppet had failed,” she writes. “I know he must be enjoying everything that’s happened instead. But he hasn’t had the last laugh yet.”

The book is set to be officially released on September 12.

Probably the most telling part of the book is where she lays the most blame at the feet of the American public. Because if there’s one thing she just doesn’t understand– after terms as first lady, US senator, secretary of state and a two-time presidential candidate — it’s why the public doesn’t seem to like her.

“What makes me such a lightning rod for fury? I’m really asking. I’m at a loss,” she asks her readers, before concluding: “I think it’s partly because I’m a woman.”
