Yes, President Barack Obama will campaign with Hillary Clinton this week.  In doing so, the president will provide first class transportation to Hillary on Air Force One starting on Tuesday when they head to North Carolina for a joint appearance.   So how about Trump’s question of “who pays” for the travel?

The answer is you, the taxpayer, will pay 50% of the cost of flying Air Force One for political purposes.   Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee will pay the other 50% regardless of whether the former secretary of state is on the plane with President Obama.

Campaigns are required to reimburse travel fees not only for their candidates but also anyone who is traveling on behalf of the candidates. But other passengers, including security details and medical staff, are not required to repay the government for their travel costs.

Air Force One costs $200,000 per hour to operate.
