CNN dominates ratings amid Trump woes

The media frenzy over a New York Times report concerning President Trump’s issues with former FBI Director James Comey has resulted in great ratings for CNN.

The report accuses President Trump of meddling in former FBI Director James Comey’s investigation into Gen. Michael Flynn and his ties to the Russians.   Following the report, CNN came out at the top of the ratings chart in a coveted demographic of folks between 25-54.

CNN averaged 719,000 viewers in the 25- to- 54 demo, according to Nielsen Fast National data. CNN toppled MSNBC, who finished second with 650,000 viewers, and crushed Fox News, who took third place with 539,000 viewers.

CNN hasn’t had ratings that high since July 2016, during the Democratic National Convention.

MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” had 829,000 viewers, making it the top-rated show in the 25- to- 54 demo. Anderson Cooper’s CNN show had 759,000 viewers at 9 p.m and 704,000 at 8 p.m., making it second and third on the ratings chart for that demographic.

In total viewers, MSNBC came out on top with a viewership of 2.483 million, followed by Fox with 2.380 million and CNN with 2.113 million.
