Even CNN host Brooke Baldwin seemed surprised Thursday when her guest, legal analyst Areva Martin, compared the statements of O.J. Simpson’s daughter to the comments of Sen. John McCain’s daughter.

Martin drew a comparison between what Arnelle Simpson said during testimony at her father’s parole hearing, to comments from Meghan McCain about her father’s recent diagnosis of brain cancer.

Martin mentioned that Arnelle’s statements reminded her of what Meghan McCain has said, that her father is “her rock, her friend, her confidant.”

Simpson had called her father, “my best friend and my rock.” Meghan McCain had released a statement about her father’s cancer, saying he was her “hero” and her love for him was boundless. (Scroll down for more.)

“But one of them has brain cancer, and the other is convicted of….” Baldwin interrupted.

“Well, I want to address that … for me, O.J. has always been about race, class, and justice,” Martin declared.

Simpson was awarded parole in Thursday’s hearing, and is expected to be set free as early as October 1.
