The entire campus at U.C. Berkley university in California was put on lockdown Wednesday evening after riots broke out before a Breitbart writer was scheduled to deliver a speech on immigration.

Students started fires to protest the speech, which was supposed to be about getting the federal government to cut off federal funding to colleges like Berkley because they continue to harbor illegal aliens.

The protests started hours before the speech was scheduled and, as a result, the event was canceled.

According to Fox News, local law enforcement was “hands-off” during the riots.

The Breitbart speaker left the campus grounds when the riots became violent.
