JUST IN — Former FBI Director James Comey has rejected an invitation to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee next week.

The invitation was for what would have been a closed session before the panel by Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.), and Vice Chairman Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA).  In an interview on Friday with MSNBC, Sen. Warner said Comey rejected the invitation and thus, will not appear before the committee.

As part of their probe into Russia’s possible interference with the 2016 elections, the Senate Intelligence Committee was hoping Comey could shed some light on the FBI’s ongoing investigation into the same issue.  Comey was spearheading the investigation at the time he was fired by President Trump earlier this week.
