Former FBI Director James Comey has been offered a multimillion-dollar book deal following his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this week.
Several media outlets are reporting that Hollywood producers and publishing companies are scrambling to sign a deal with the ousted FBI chief so he can dish on all the details relating to his private interactions with President Trump and his investigation into the Hillary Clinton private email server scandal.
According to The Daily Mail, Comey may have hinted at a big announcement on the horizon when he said he was “between opportunities” during the hearing on Thursday.
When California Senator Kamala Harris thanked fired FBI Director James Comey for testifying as a ‘private citizen’ in the Senate Intelligence hearing into Russian interference yesterday, his response was, ‘I’m between opportunities right now.’
Publishers are willing to pay him top dollar and make him a millionaire ten times over with an advance for his memoir reaching a staggering $10 million, says the report.
One major New York publishing executive told the news outlet that “Jim Comey’s story has everything, from White House intrigue to possible corruption and law breaking. His explosive story makes ‘West Wing’ and ‘House of Cards’ on a par with Mister Rogers.”
“When his proposal hits my desk, I’ve already been authorized to offer $10 million,” the executive added.
Meanwhile, Hollywood producers are also lining up to be the first to create a blockbuster movie based on Comey’s life and his attempt to unseat President Trump.
A prominent agent on the Hollywood scene told reporters:
“I know one top drawer producer who’s already talking to stars to cast the Comey role. He has to be tall, good-looking and a Jimmy Stewart-John Wayne-hero type. I was mesmerized when I spent the whole day watching Comey testify. Comey could expect a movie deal tied into the book worth many millions of dollars more, tens of millions.”
