On Sunday, the Coney Island amusement park in New York fell into anarchy after false reports of gunshots sent people running and screaming along the Brooklyn waterfront.
Authorities quickly took to social media to quell and reassure frantic guests and employees that there were no legitimate gunshots. Uploaded videos to social media show the chaos that unfolded from the false reports.
The false reports themselves stemmed from a dispute among a few young people near the Luna Park and Cyclone rides. Reportedly, bottles were thrown around in the dispute as police hurried to the scene. Several individuals were injured in the incident.
