Texas Representative Al Green took to the floor of Congress Wednesday morning and called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump for obstruction of justice.
The Democrat congressman claimed that he did not insist on impeachment for political purposes, but because “I believe in the great ideals that this country stands for–liberty and justice for all. The notion that we should have government of the people, by the people and for the people.”
Green contended that “There is a belief in this country that no one is above the law, and that includes the president of the United States of America.”
Green warned that “our democracy is at risk” due to Trump’s firing of James Comey while the former FBI director was “investigating the president himself.”
