Conservative icon slams Trump tax compromise

One lone comment has suddenly shown up on the personal Twitter account belonging to Matt Drudge, owner of the Drudge Report, as he rips the GOP to shreds, saying there’s no difference between them and the Democrats.

Matt Drudge’s frustration was evident as he slammed Republicans for compromising with Democrats on the new tax plan, and for failing to repeal Obamacare.

“First keep Obamacare, now raise taxes on top earners? At least illusion there is difference between parties is finished once and for all!” Drudge tweeted Wednesday from his personal Twitter account.

On the Drudge Report website, he also gave the GOP a pounding, with a large headline that read, “More Betrayal Republican Plan to Raise Taxes!”

President Trump and Republican leaders released their new Republican tax reform plan Wednesday, which includes proposals to simplify the entire tax system, while giving large cuts to corporations, reducing tax rates for individuals, and doing away with the estate tax.

The one segment in the plan that has outraged Drudge is a provision that says “an additional top rate may apply to the highest-income taxpayers to ensure that the reformed tax code is at least as progressive” as the current plan.

The plan also raises the lowest individual tax bracket from 10 percent to 12 percent but doubles the standard tax deduction.

A screenshot is included of the tweet, below, as Drudge normally deletes posts on his personal Twitter account within hours after posting them.
