Conservative Trump supporting actor defends his controversial gender tweet

Actor James Woods, a conservative who supported Trump in this past election, isn’t apologizing for a tweet he sent earlier this week calling out a gender creative child, saying he would murder his parents.

Woods’ tweet depicted a snapshot of a young boy with his mother and father, who were holding signs that read “I [heart] my gender creative son” and “My son wears dresses & makeup … Get over it!”, with the caption “This is sweet. Wait until this poor kid grows up, realizes what you’ve done, and stuffs both of you dismembered into a freezer in the garage.”

The child in the photo is 10-year-old CJ Duron, and his parents were none too pleased with the “hugely misinformed” Woods.

“We’ve spent seven years sharing our journey to the public,” Lois Duron told People. “We were on his radar, but he wasn’t on ours. It was shocking. I feel like adults should know better. LGBTQ youth don’t hurt their parents, they hurt themselves,” she said. “We’re trying to raise our son in way that he doesn’t fall into those behaviors. His tweet was so uninformed. LGBTQ youth do not kill other people, they kill themselves.”

Despite Duron’s criticism, and backlash from the LGBT community as a whole, Woods doubled down on his comments.

“Using one’s child as a social justice propaganda doll is tantamount to child abuse. This is not about homophobia. Nice try though,” he said. “For the record I have supported human rights of all stripes and persuasions, colors, creeds, choices and preferences my entire life. Period.”

He thinks the parents aren’t doing the child any favors fitting in.

“Some children can be ruthlessly cruel to children who are simply different in any way,” he tweeted. “I humbly suggest making your child a target is unwise.”

Woods also tweeted Trump about the healthcare bill earlier this week.
