In Temple, Texas, authorities say a man has died after losing his legs last month while trying to save his fatally injured 4-year-old daughter when a houseboat ran over her on a Central Texas lake.
According to police reports, a houseboat had backed over Kaitlyn Oliver on June 23 at Lake Belton. Her father, Patrick Oliver became entwined in the propeller while he was trying to save his precious daughter.
In addition to incurring serious injuries, Patrick lost his legs in the accident. Family members thought he would survive the injuries. He did not.
An autopsy states Kaitlyn Oliver died from drowning and severe propeller wounds.
The driver of the houseboat, Jason Bernal of Killeen, was charged with criminally negligent homicide after Kaitlyn’s death.
