When James Evans, the Utah Republican Party Chairman, brought up the subject of Bill Clinton’s alleged illegitimate son in a CNN interview last week, he was not only cut off by CNN, but he received a voicemail death threat.
Authorities have determined that the threatening messages originated from the same phone number of a man who made threats against Donald Trump, calling for his assassination, reported the Salt Lake Tribune.
The message left in a voicemail at the Salt Lake City GOP headquarters office said, “You might want to tell that lying n***** James Evans that he’s lucky he’s not being lynched right now.”
Officials traced the number back to a dog-walking business in Houston, Texas and called him up. The man denied knowing anything about the threatening call.
However, the owner of that same business has posted numerous anti-Trump messages, along with threatening messages on his Facebook and Twitter accounts, including saying he wanted Trump’s assassination. He posted the following messages in December:
@realDonaldTrump can’t wait for your assassination! Millions of Americans will dance with joy that your mouth is finally shut the f*** up!
@realDonaldTrump I will dance the day you are assassinated by a Muslim! Keep talking a**hole. Thank God you will soon be dead.
Deseret News reported that the staff from the GOP headquarters in Salt Lake City have been dispersed to various other locations following the death threat against Evans.
“It’s just gotten to a point that we’re going to disperse out of here. I’m more concerned about our staff being safe between now and the end of the election cycle,” Evans said. “We’re going to be working out of other locations to make sure we can do the job that we’re supposed to do, which is to help get our Republicans elected.”
Below is the CNN interview where James Evans was cut off when he raised the question about whether Bill Clinton had an illegitimate child with a prostitute. Evans was making the point about the “double standard” of the media attacking Trump and giving the Clintons a free pass.
“I want to make this one last point if I could, I’m looking forward to the interview you’re going to have with Bill Clinton’s illegitimate son and ask Hillary Clinton if she is willing to accept him,” he said to host Carol Costello.
Costello quickly cut him off with, “No, no, no, no. Come on, oh please. That’s just rubbish, he does not have an illegitimate son. Why would you bring that up?” Suddenly they were all out of time.
