Washington, D.C. – Democratic Senator Ron Wyden, is voicing his demands for the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The Attorney General, alongside Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, has recently made a formal recommendation to the President calling for the resignation of FBI Director James Comey. Trump relied upon these recommendations, and on Tuesday, fired Comey.
Wyden claims that back in March 2017, Sessions misled senators during his confirmation hearings, regarding his communications with Russian officials during the presidential campaign. Sessions firmly denied any intentions of being misleading, additionally choosing to recuse himself from all investigations into Russia’s purported interference in the 2016 campaign.
Session’s recusal did not satisfy Senator Wyden, and a special investigation into any Trump-Moscow links as well as the alleged interference was requested. The Senator reportedly now feels Sessions did not recuse himself and his resignation is now required.
