Democrat Hypocrisy: Obama and Clinton on Refugees and Immigrants

A growing number of critics are calling out Democrats for their hypocrisy on Donald Trump’s temporary travel ban and limits on refugees.

They point out that the last two Democratic presidents got praise for similar actions.

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, a Cuban-American Republican from Florida, put critics of President Donald Trump on notice Monday, pointing out that Obama did the same thing weeks ago.

Diaz-Balart says that very few Democrats raised any concerns when former President Barack Obama stopped offering asylum to Cubans in the closing days of his administration.

“I am struck by the double standard and hypocrisy of those who are offended by this executive order, but who failed to challenge President Obama when he took similar action against Cuban refugees, especially since President Obama’s action was meant to appease the Castro regime and not for national security reasons,” said Rep. Diaz-Balart.

As a refresher, Former President Obama ended the United States’ “wet-foot, dry-foot” policy on just January 12th. This policy had been in place for two decades and was a lifeline to Cubans fleeing oppression. This policy change came along with Obama’s renewal of diplomatic and economic ties with Cuba.

While former President Obama blocked refugees, a review of history shows even President Clinton received standing ovations for his tough posturing on illegal immigration. In this video Clinton is seen demanding strong border defenses and deporting criminal illegal immigrants to tremendous applause.

Clinton declared, “We are a nation of immigrants.. but we are a nation of laws. Our nation is rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. Illegal immigrants take jobs from citizens or legal immigrants, they impose burdens on our taxpayers.”

Get your story straight, Democrats.
