The effects of the massive refugee resettlement program were clearly felt in two August 9 primary elections in Minnesota, when two congress representatives literally lost their jobs to foreign-born immigrants.
Rep. Phyllis Kahn, a 22-term congresswoman, and Rep. Joe Mullery, a 10-term congressman, both from Minneapolis, lost their primary races to immigrants jumping into politics for the first time who received huge backing from their racial and ethnic groups, reports Breitbart.
Phyllis Kahn actually lost her race to two Somalis – Ilhan Omar (the winner) and Mohamud Noor (runner-up.) The primary voter turnout was up by almost 40 percent over 2014.
Omar credited her win to immigrant Somalis, and posted a statement on her website: “I am so proud that the majority of contributions to my campaign are from members of the Somali community who believe in my leadership.” Financial contributions flowed in from Somalis in other states who supported her as well.
Breitbart states that Kahn barely won the 2014 election, and had been pandering to the growing immigrant communities for years, but obviously, the more their population grew, the more they wanted one of their own. In 2002 Kahn had introduced a bill to legalize first-cousin marriages, which are common in Islamic countries – which confirms that as the immigrants become the majority, they will seek to change American law to accommodate their own culture.
On election night – in Minnesota, USA – Ilhan Omar’s victory speech was not in English, but in her own language, surrounded by her fellow immigrants. No American flag was visible in the room.
Breitbart published an English translation of a portion of her speech:
On August 9, the hijab-wearing Omar celebrated her primary victory with pro-forma praise for the Islamic deity Allah: “Tonight, we made history,” Omar, 33, said to cheers. “Alhamdulillah [praise be to [Allah]. Tonight marks the beginning of the future of our district, a new era of representation. Tonight is about the power of you.”
A similar scene played out with runner-up Mohamud Noor as he spoke to his supporters earlier in March. Again, no English, no American flag, no red, white and blue.

Rep. Joe Mullery was beaten by Thailand-born Hmong immigrant, Fue Lee, who won 55 percent of the vote – mostly due to support from the exploding Hmong population in Minneapolis.
Lee’s victory celebration started off in their native language, although he gave his speech in English, but no American flag was seen in the room. The news interview he gave after his speech was all in his native language.
Breitbart says Democrats still don’t get what just happened to them.
Democratic leaders are not fighting the demographic changes that are sidelining their long-term supporters. “Ilhan Omar and Fue Lee won hard-earned victories today,” said Paul Thissen, the DLF’s leader in the state House, adding, “Both are bright young leaders in our party and I look forward to working with them in the coming years to make sure our state is responding to the needs of the communities they will soon represent.”
