Democrat presidential hopeful is introduced to Hillary’s Hamptons crowd

Now known as the Democrats’ “Great Freshman Hope” for the 2020 presidential race, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-California) will be spending the weekend in the Hamptons, where she’ll hob-nob with Hillary Clinton’s biggest backers.

Harris is being hosted in Bridgehampton on Saturday at the home of MWWPR CEO Michael Kempner. The PR guru was one of Clinton’s national-finance co-chairs and a top fundraiser when she first ran for president in 2008. Kempner raised $3 million as one of Obama’s top “bundlers” during his 2012 re-election campaign.

Harris can expect to be greeted by Clinton insider Margo Alexander, Battery Park City Authority chairman and Clinton backer Dennis Mehiel, designer Steven Gambrel and Democratic National Committee member Robert Zimmerman.

A separate Hamptons lunch will be hosted by Washington lobbyist Liz Robbins.

Harris, 52, is a former prosecutor and San Francisco district attorney who went on to become California’s attorney general. She got noticed on the national stage during the Senate intelligence committee hearing into President Trump’s ties to Russia for her grilling of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. This Democrat darling has stood in opposition of 18 of Trump’s 22 administration nominees.

A staunch feminist who bristles at any perceived “sexism”, President Obama had to apologize after telling a group at an event in 2013 that Harris is “brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough,” and then unfortunately adding that “she also happens to be, by far, the best looking attorney general in the country.”

The freshman senator is already said to be the Democrats’ top fund-raiser, despite her denials of having presidential aspirations. However, her weekend will surely include some talk of that lofty goal.
