Dems speak out on Lieberman as potential FBI head

Joe Lieberman’s name is at the top of the list for FBI director, and Democrats aren’t at all pleased.

Formerly a Democrat who ran for the presidency in 2004, Lieberman has gradually been moving his politics to the right and is now registered as an independent.

In opposition to his potential FBI nomination, several Democrats have taken to the airwaves, including Senator Claire McCaskill, who said on Thursday, “I think it’s a mistake to nominate anyone who’s ever run for office. This is a moment where we need a law enforcement professional that’s never campaigned for a presidential candidate, never campaigned for office, never worn a party label, to head the FBI.”

Republican supporters, such as Senator Lindsey Graham, are supportive of the 75-year-old observant Jew becoming the oldest person ever to lead the agency. “I think Joe Lieberman is a pillar of credibility. I think he’d be a good choice,” said Graham.
