Dems upset Trump Jr wouldn’t answer one question in closed-door hearing (video)

The president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, was called in to be grilled by the House Intelligence Committee in a closed door meeting Wednesday, about his meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in June 2016 at Trump Tower.

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said in an interview Wednesday night on Fox News that the hearing was very professional, but questioned why it took 7 hours to discuss a 20-minute meeting at Trump Tower. He insisted Trump Jr did nothing wrong.

In a CNN interview, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) objected to the fact that Trump Jr. refused to answer any questions about conversations he may have had with his father afterwards, regarding the meeting.

“He acknowledged having discussed the June 9 meeting and the emails that went into establishing that meeting after those emails became public,” Schiff said.

“He acknowledged discussing that matter with his father, but refused to answer questions about that discussion along the basis of a attorney-client privilege. In my view there is no attorney-client privilege that protects a discussion between father and son,” he added.

Trump Jr. voluntarily appeared before the House Intelligence Committee to answer their questions, and did say that after the emails became public regarding the meeting, that he did discuss the meeting with his father.

Democrats were frustrated that he wouldn’t share with them details about his visit with his father.
