The New York Yankees have a long standing tradition of honoring its best players by holding a day in their honor. Sunday was not only Mother’s Day, it was Derek Jeter Day in the Bronx, NY.
The New York Yankees retired Jeter’s uniform on Sunday. His #2 was entered into the Yankees’ “Monument Park” where baseball greats like Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Reggie Jackson and others are celebrated with plaques.
Jeter, who is currently working with Jeb Bush to buy the Florida Marlins, was introduced with his wife who is pregnant with their first child.
The videos below show the introduction of Yankee players from the past, and Jeter’s speech to Yankees fans in which he said, “I would not change places with any player.”
