MINNETONKA, MN – A gunman opened fire at a Minnesota storage facility on Friday morning, leaving one victim dead and another injured, according to incident reports.
Minnetonka police officials have confirmed the shooting took place around 11 a.m. in the back of the storage facility, where a dispute allegedly broke out between the individual before shots were fired.
Officers arrived on the scene and found an adult male dead from a gunshot wound and another injured, though the condition of that victim is unknown. The victims’ identities have not been publicly released yet, reports Fox 9 News.
The suspect, who surrendered to authorities peacefully, has been identified as 65-year-old James Lacount. Officers were also to recover the gun used at the crime scene.
“It was a peaceful surrender. No force needed,” Minnetonka Police Chief Scott Boerboom said. “It just took us a while to surround and secure the area.”
Police officials also note that there is no threat to the public, adding that an investigation is currently underway to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
