Since President Trump overtook the role of presidency, illegal border crossings in the Rio Grande Valley section has declined considerably.
In fact, the crossings have gone down to such minute levels that the detention facility at the Donna-Rio Bravo International Bridge in the south Texas sector has been shut down. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials confirmed to Breitbart the number of illegal families and unaccompanied children has hit a notable low.
“This effort is designed to minimize the impact to border security operations while fulfilling our humanitarian efforts,” said Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor Commander Manuel Padilla, Jr. “We will work closely with all our partner agencies to maintain efficient operations.”
CBP officials also confirmed the news earlier this week in a released statement:
“A continual decline in the total number of apprehended and inadmissible alien migrants in custody at the facility, along with manageable processing of migrants at previously impacted CBP Ports of Entry and Stations led to the facility shutting down.”
