Today is June 28, and here are the stories I am watching.
1-Biden draws bulk of attacks in second debate. On the second night of the first Democratic presidential primary debate, 10 candidates sparred over issues ranging from income inequality to immigration. Former Vice President Joe Biden faced challenges from the other presidential hopefuls who took aim at his record and questioned whether the party’s Obama-era policies have gone far enough.
DML: All that was proved last night is that these Democrats want the country to be the United States of Latin America. Amnesty for all.
2-Trump tells Putin: “Don’t meddle in the election.” The two leaders met at the G-20 summit in Osaka, Japan. Asked if he would raise the issue of election interference, President Trump, with a smile, told President Putin not to meddle. Also at the summit, the president struck a conciliatory tone with other world leaders, saying there would be “very big” trade deals with India and Japan.
DML: Please Vladimir, no ads on Facebook this time! We don’t want to sway a voter to abandon Beto for Trump, it just wouldn’t be fair. Can you believe the level of crazy that liberals spew.
3-Supreme Court blocks citizenship question on census—for now.The high court halted the Trump administration’s plans to ask U.S. residents on the 2020 census whether they are citizens, voicing blunt concerns about the White House’s motivations. President Trump called the ruling “totally ridiculous” and asked lawyers about delaying the census.
DML: Justice John Roberts is as much a conservative as I am a liberal.
4-Fed lets big banks boost payouts, buybacks. The Federal Reserve said the biggest U.S. banks are healthy enough to start whittling down their capital stockpiles, clearing them to make payouts to investors that exceed their expected profits. All 18 banks reviewed passed round two of the Fed’s stress tests, only the second time since the central bank began administering the exams that no bank failed.
DML: Bonuses. Bonuses. Bonuses. They be coming.
5-CALIFORNIA: Shoppers say they’re being harassed by a group of homeless people in the parking lot, but police say they cannot do anything about it. Neighbors say a homeless camp has popped up in the parking lot leading to vandalism and harassment, and they say Walmart will not ask them to leave.
DML: The United States of Tents. I urge you to pick up copies of my latest DVD and send it to lawmakers and media outlets who are ignoring the issue. Go to DennisMichaelLynch.com/homeless
