Dear Mr. President,
In my letter last night, I commended you on the strong message you are sending about how the hate and violence is on both sides. Today, you doubled down on your stance during the press conference at Trump Tower. Therefore, it is only right that I double down on my support. Excellent job.
As impressed as I was with the presser, I was disappointed in your response to questions about Steve Bannon.
A great leader gives his team credit, respect, and unconditional support when speaking about them to the press. That didn’t happen today, and I urge you change direction real fast.
Your approval rating took a hit when you started smashing Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Please don’t go down that path again with Steve Bannon. If you’re considering the idea of letting him go, do it professionally. Do not humiliate him publicly, and do not undermine his being by giving the media comments like, “lets see what happens with Bannon.” If asked whether you have confidence in a person, e.g. Bannon, just say “yes,” and then move on to the next question.
Today, you made it appear as if Steve played a small role in getting you elected in 2016.
Diminishing his importance based on when he joined your team is not only unfair, but it conveys poor leadership. That said, don’t feed the media with the fuel they need to light you on fire.
Fact is, as Breitbart’s leader, Bannon did a remarkable job fighting the mainstream media when you needed a friend in the news business. His place on your team may not have become official until after the primaries, but do not underestimate the role he played long before you won the nomination.
As you stated today, Bannon is not a racist or a hater. He is a conservative, and conservatives across the country are under attack by the media. This means Bannon is under attack — you mentioned such yourself. Therefore, not only should you defend him with all your might, but you should publicly praise the work he does in the White House.
The media is trying to trap you. They are pushing you into declaring the Trump voter base is filled with “Alt-Right” nut jobs. They are trying to make us into something we are not. Meaning, they want all conservatives to be bucketed with the KKK.
That said, there is one big reason why they want you to recognize “the Alt-Right” as being haters. It’s because they want the term “Alt-Right” to mean “neo-Nazi” and “white nationalist.” Why? The answer is simple. They want the big prize. They want the one true conservative in your administration, Steve Bannon, to be ousted from the White House. If he is gone, they feel they win the game today, tomorrow, and in the next election.
If you bite into the bait, you will regret it long term.
Getting rid of Bannon is a victory for the Left, and a loss for the Trump presidency. Please, do not go down that path.
God bless America.
