Today is October 12 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. And don’t forget to download the free DML App from the Google Play or Apple App Store to remain connected to me throughout the day.
1-Amy Coney Barrett hearings begin
The Senate Judiciary Committee hearings for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett kick off Monday morning — and the questioning of the former Notre Dame law professor this week will likely steal much of the spotlight away from the ongoing election between President Trump and Joe Biden, especially with the debate originally scheduled for Thursday now cancelled.
The proceedings are expected to last through Thursday: Senators will spend Monday making their opening statements, followed by Barrett’s opening remarks, before questioning begins Tuesday and will continue into Wednesday. On Thursday, the Senate will bring in outside experts to weigh in on the nomination.
Republicans at this point appear to have the votes needed to confirm Barrett, with only two members of their 53-person caucus objecting to moving the Barrett nomination before the election. That means they can afford one unexpected defection and still have Vice President Pence be able to break a tie.
DML: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Sunday night promised that Democrats will not “supply quorum” for votes to advance Barrett’s confirmation effort, essentially meaning that Democrats will boycott the votes in an attempt to stall the confirmation ahead of the election. Any Republican defector needs to lose their next election.
2-Navy veteran Joe Collins targets Democrat Maxine Waters’ home in campaign ad
U.S. Navy veteran Joe Collins on Saturday released a scathing campaign ad attacking Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., for living in a multimillion-dollar mansion while representing a district plagued by crime and poverty.
In the ad, Collins stands outside Waters’ $6 million California residence, noting that it is not even located inside the district she represents.
Here’s the video:
Do you know where I am?
Maxine Waters’ $6 Million Mansion.
Do you know where I’m NOT?
Mansion Maxine Waters doesn’t live in her District — I do.
My name is Joe Collins and I’m running for Congress against Maxine Waters.
— Joe E. Collins III For Congress CA-43 (@joecollins43rd) October 10, 2020
DML: If the majority of the people of South L.A. cared about where they lived, Waters wouldn’t be there for 44 years. Nice guy this Collins, but his video won’t do a thing.
3-Suspect in Denver shooting not a licensed security guard: report
The private security guard who has been jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder stemming from a deadly shooting on Saturday in Denver during dueling protests was reportedly not properly licensed to work in the position.
Matthew Robert Dolloff, 30, was reportedly working as a contracted security guard for 9News at the time of the shooting. The local news station reported late Sunday that he was hired through another company to accompany its news staff to the protests.
The station reported that it later found out that it appears that Dolloff was not actually employed by the company it used and the company did not provide additional information about his actual employer.
The 9News report went further and said Denver’s Department of Excise and Licenses has “no record” that Dolloff was licensed to work as a security guard.
Dolloff was taken into custody in connection with a clash that took place Saturday afternoon in Civic Center Park in Denver.
A man participating in what was billed a “Patriot Rally” slapped and sprayed Mace at a man who appeared to be Dolloff, the Denver Post reported, based on its photographs from the scene. The man identified by the newspaper as Dolloff drew a gun from his waistband and shot the other person, according to the Denver Post journalist who witnessed the episode.
DML: I’m going to say the same thing I did over the weekend… until the so-called protests of all kind end, and until Black Lives Matter stops getting its way on everything, protests from all sides (pro-cop, anti-cop, etc) are going to end in horror shows.
4-New York City Council candidate arrested in connection to journalist assault: cops
City Council candidate Heshy Tischler was arrested Sunday night in connection to the assault of an Orthodox journalist in Borough Park last week, police said.
Tischler, who is also Orthodox, was taken into custody at his house in Borough Park and charged with unlawful imprisonment and inciting a riot, according to police.
Videos posted to social media show Tischler being escorted by police into a dark minivan as dozens of people look on.
Yes, they got me finally. I am being arrested on Monday morning by the @NYPD66Pct at 10:00 am for inciting a riot.
Pastor Mcall & Jeffry Davis will be taking me in.

DML: At the end of the day, Cuomo and deBlasio should be arrested.
5-Fauci says his comments in new Trump ad ‘were taken out of context’ and without his permission
Dr. Anthony Fauci said comments of his in a recent commercial from President Trump’s campaign were used without his permission and “taken out of context.”
“In my nearly five decades of public service, I have never publicly endorsed any political candidate,” Fauci said in a statement provided to Fox News. “The comments attributed to me without my permission in the GOP campaign ad were taken out of context from a broad statement I made months ago about the efforts of federal public health officials.”
The commercial in question, which is running in the key battleground state of Michigan, was released last week after Trump was discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Hospital following his coronavirus diagnosis.
In one part of the ad, Fauci is seen saying, “I can’t imagine that anybody could be doing more.”
While no date is provided in the commercial, the comment from Fauci came from an interview he gave Fox News in March, where he praised the White House coronavirus task force’s response to the pandemic.
DML: A better commercial would be showing how Fauci is a flip-flop artist. I detest the man.
DML PARTING WORDS: I would love to hear Dr Fauci explain why it is that I have not been sick in two years. This time coincides perfectly with when I started using DML CBD. I would also love to hear why none of his reports ever include the studies on CBD and COVID? There are a number of studies being conducted in the US and around the world that show positive results when using CBD to combat the inflammation that happens in some COVID patients. For some reason Fauci never mentions them. I am guessing here, but maybe big pharma doesn’t like the studies? I would love to get an answer from Fauci, the so-called “nation’s leading expert.” As I wait for his answers, I’ll be taking my DML CBD every day, throughout the day. And by the way, he have DML CBD Gummy Chews in stock. Here is the link: DMLcbd.com
